The Friends at Home program pairs a child, teen or young adult with special needs with a teenage volunteer who visits the child at home each week. A friendship is born and nurtured as together they share activities, bake, play games, create arts and crafts or just spend time together. This weekly play-date becomes a highlight in the child’s life and they eagerly await their special friends. Parents and siblings welcome the hour too, as they enjoy some much-needed respite. A volunteer coordinator arranges the match, guides the volunteer and the family, and constantly keeps in touch with to ensure that everything runs smoothly. If you are a high school student with a special heart, a parent of a Special Needs child or know someone who is – join the circle today!
