The Friends at Home program pairs a child with special needs with a teenage volunteer who visits the child at home each week. A friendship is born and nurtured as together they bake cookies, play games, create arts and crafts or just spend time together. This weekly play-date quickly becomes a highlight in the child’s life and they eagerly await their special friends. Parents and siblings welcome the hour too, as they enjoy a much-needed respite.
A volunteer coordinator arranges the match, guides the volunteer and the family, and constantly keeps in touch with to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
If you are a high school student with a special heart, a parent of a Special Needs child or know someone who is – join the circle today!
You must attend at least one event if you would like your child to be set up with a Friends@Home Volunteer
If you submitted a volunteer application and would like to be set up (with a friend) as a Volunteer for the Friends @ Home you must attend the Orientation, an event or meeting
Please Note: Friends @ Home is not in session during the Summer until we resume in the Fall.
